Verification

Sources & Attribution

How Newzz evaluates evidence and credits the original source of information.

Source priorities

  1. Primary documents, official data, public records and direct statements
  2. Established news organizations with clear editorial standards
  3. Qualified specialist and local publications
  4. Social or user-generated material used only as a lead until verified

Corroboration

High-impact claims should be confirmed through independent evidence. Conflicting claims are held for review or described with appropriate uncertainty.

Launch source network

The automated source desk monitors validated feeds from public institutions and established newsrooms, including Government of Canada, NOAA, NASA, BBC, CBC News, Global News, CityNews, The Guardian, NPR, Al Jazeera English, France 24, ABC News Australia, Sky News, Full Fact and The Conversation. Tourism and fashion coverage also uses established specialist publications. A source being monitored does not mean Newzz endorses every claim it publishes; attribution, corroboration and risk rules still apply.

Media rights

Photographs, video and graphics must have documented permission, a suitable license or a recognized editorial-use basis. The Visual Agent first checks the original report, then may use clearly labeled CC-licensed or public-domain Wikimedia Commons file photography when the source has no suitable image. Captions identify sources, licenses and relevant context.

Linked evidence

Published stories should link to supporting documents and reporting when doing so helps readers evaluate the evidence.
